NEW NYS CONTRACT REPORTER WEBSITE LAUNCH – January 6th, 2014

The new NYS Contract Reporter will launch the morning of January 6th. The current site will go down at 2 pm on Friday January 3rd, with the new site going live on Monday January 6th. Your current account will NOT be transferred to the new site. When you visit the new site you will be prompted to create an account and will have the opportunity to register your business in the new Business Registry. If you created an account on the new site during the pre-registration period, you will receive an eAlert bid notification from the new system and you will be able to log onto the new site to view all open solicitations. The new NYS Contract Reporter is well designed and offers new features, functionalities and resources to help you find opportunities in state contracting. New tutorials will help you learn how the site functions. If you have a current NYS Contract Reporter account holder, you should have received an invitation from Empire State Development to create an account for the new NYS Contract Reporter website. The new site is scheduled for launch in later this month. If you haven't yet registered, please do so soon. And if you registered, but didn't yet create your Business Registry account, please do. To facilitate registration and communication with the new pre-registration site, please tell your computer that the NYS Contract Reporter is a trusted site, and that you want to receive mail from: @nyscr.ny.gov Pre-registration will ensure a seamless transition from the current site to the new site, which will have many new features and functionalities. OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The new NYS Contract Reporter website is scheduled for launch in November 2013. To insure a seamless transition from the current site to the new site, with all of its new features and functionalities, we are requiring all current account holders to create their new account during a pre-registration period. Pre-registration is open from 10/17/13 through 11/22/13. All services on the new site are free, but if you don't create an account during pre-registration you may encounter an interruption in service when the new site is launched. The New York State Contract Reporter is "New York’s official publication state procurement opportunities from state agencies, public authorities and public benefit corporations. The NYSCR is now free of charge for general access." Also check out OGS' Procurement Law, Guidelines and Procedures and Seller Information & Bid Opportunities . Just as important, when you find a contract that may be expiring in the next several months, TALK to the purchasing officer associated with that contract. There is a window during which they can help a prospective business, but another during which they cannot.

New York State Contract Reporter

Many thanks to the people at the Farmingdale SBDC, who passed on information earlier today that free access is available online to the New York State Contract Reporter, "your official source for New York State contracting opportunities". Access is being given to all the SBDCs around the state, as well as to businesses with fewer than 10 employees. The Farmingdale office received an email from a woman affiliated with the NYSCR. Here's the text: "I am pleased to inform you that today, Governor Paterson in conjuction with our Commissioner Marisa Lago, announced that all NYS SBDC centers will be entitled to free access to the NYSCR as well as to NYS businesses that employ 10 or fewer persons .
